On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, TRIBA will hold its 3rd Annual Merit Awards at The Sanctuary Roosevelt Island, honoring outstanding individuals in our community who have made a significant impact: Greg Morrisett, Dr. Katherine Grimm and The Roosevelt Island Branch of The New York City Library. The evening will feature an open bar and passed hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, a sit-down dinner, and inspiring stories about our honorees:
Greg Morrisett: has been the Jack and Rilla Neafsey Dean and Vice Provost of Cornell Tech since 2019, Cornell University’s state-of-the-art campus on Roosevelt Island.
He has been responsible for the quality and worldwide recruitment of faculty, researchers, and students from around the world. Prior to joining Cornell Tech, he taught Computing and Information Science at both Harvard and Cornell, focusing on cybersecurity for software systems.
Throughout his career, he has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, an IBM Faculty Fellowship, a National Science Foundation Career Award, and an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship.
Dr. Katherine Grimm: graduated from the Icahn School of Medicine and trained in pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins Hospital where she was also on the faculty. She is board-certified in pediatrics, allergy and immunology, and child abuse pediatrics.
Dr. Grimm ran her own pediatric practice on Roosevelt Island for over 35 years. Currently, she works part-time for Mount Sinai Medical Center as a child abuse pediatrician, where, for many years, she was on the full-time faculty and Director of the Pediatric ER and Ambulatory Pediatrics.
She mentors medical students and residents regularly on child protection issues, provides consultations on alleged child abuse, and periodically testifies in court.
The Roosevelt Island Branch of The New York City Library

The Roosevelt Island branch of The New York Public Library opened in a new 5,200-square-foot location in January 2021, down the street from the previous library. The space, in a former school, offers the community much-needed space, including dedicated areas for kids and teens, a community room for programs, and up-to-date technology.
It all began in 1976, when Dorothy and Herman Reade of Forest Hills, Queens, retired to Roosevelt Island and made it their goal to create a community library. The one-room Roosevelt Island Community Library, run solely by volunteers, served residents for 20 years and was located at 524 Main Street. In 1998, Roosevelt Island Library became the 85th branch of The New York Public Library, and patrons have access to the full contents of NYPL’s network.
Since then, the branch has attracted an ever-growing, diverse community of users who enjoy a wide range of materials, programs, and services — including weekly Toddler Story Time and Baby Story Time programs, computer classes, and the Thursday morning Knitting and Crochet Group. The branch offers a wide range of book discussions including classical and contemporary.
